The M50 toll: rates and paying on time

Dublin’s M50 has no toll booths. Cameras read your number plate, and you have until the next evening to pay. Miss it and the charge grows quickly.

Where it applies

Tolling is between Junction 6 (Blanchardstown) and Junction 7 (Lucan)1. There is no cash payment at the tolling point; unregistered users must pay by 8pm on the day after the journey1.

The rates

Vehicle classToll
Carscars: €2.60 with a tag, €3.20 with a video account, €3.80 unregistered2
Goods vehicles, lightergoods vehicles up to 2,000kg: €3.60 tag, €4.20 video, €4.90 unregistered2
Goods vehicles, heaviergoods vehicles from 2,000 kg to 10,000kg: €5.20 tag, €5.90 video, €6.50 unregistered2

These rates apply from 1 January 20262. Which row a motorhome pays depends on how it is registered, so ask the hire company; many hire vehicles carry a tag, and the company then bills the toll to you.

If you pay late

Pay late and the toll rises by €4.00, then by a further €51.00, then €128.00 (TII lists these as the default tolls for 2025)1. On a short holiday the easiest fix is to pay the same day.

The calculator has an M50 field: pick your rate and enter the number of times you will pass the toll point.

Work out your own trip: open the motorhome hire calculator. It starts with sourced defaults and leaves the rest for your quote.
