Ferries and tolls for motorhomes

Most UK roads are free. A few crossings are not, and ferry fares depend on the size of the vehicle and the date, so they need a live quote.

Dartford Crossing

The Dart Charge is £3.50 per crossing for cars and motorhomes (class B); £2.80 with a pre-pay account1. Some larger vehicles are class C: £4.20 for 2-axle goods vehicles (class C)1. It is charged between 6am and 10pm, every day1, and you must pay by midnight the day after you cross2. The calculator multiplies the class B charge by the number of crossings you enter.

M6toll

Prices depend on the vehicle class and the zones you drive through. Class 4: 2 axles and 1.3m or over at the first axle (includes vans); Class 3 includes a car with a caravan3. prices are usually reviewed every quarter3, so we link to the price tool instead of quoting a figure.

Severn crossings

the Severn Crossings have been toll-free since 17 December 20184.

Ferries and the Channel Tunnel

Ferry and shuttle fares change with the date, time and vehicle length and height, so we do not quote them. Get a quote for your exact vehicle dimensions from the operator, then type the total into the calculator’s tolls and ferries box:

Taking a hire motorhome abroad usually needs the owner’s permission and the right insurance; ask before you book a crossing.

Work out your own trip: open the motorhome hire calculator. It starts with sourced defaults and leaves the rest for your quote.
